Calling all cat lovers in the ATL! You might think you know everything there is to know about your furry feline friends, but there’s so much more to explore! Take a visit to the American House Cat Museum and learn all about the 5 million year relationship between man and cat!
What is the American House Cat Museum?
The American House Cat Museum is just what it sounds like–a place dedicated to “the collection, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of art, artifacts, and literature of the House Cat for the purposes of education, historical perspective, aesthetic enjoyment, and for the significance of the unique five million year relationship between man and the domesticated feline.”
The American House Cat Museum was the unintentional passion project of Dr. Harold Sims, who worked as a meteorologist in the navy during World War II and as a Marine Biologist and researcher before he became a Professor of Biology and Botany.
Even though Sims, known to many as Catman2, didn’t set out to create a museum, the community adores the House Cat Museum now.
