Have you ever looked to the stars and wondered… what’s going on out there? Well, we’ve got some good news for you, Atlanta! Astronomy on Tap, an international STEM outreach program brings tons of fascinating lectures about outer space, right here to the ATL… and it’s FREE to enjoy! Keep scrolling to learn all about Atlanta’s chapter of Astronomy on Tap.
What is Astronomy on Tap?

Astronomy on Tap Atlanta is a program that breaks down current astronomy and astrophysics research conducted by faculty and graduate students of Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Agnes Scott College to the general public.
In other words, they do the hard research, and then they explain it to us in a way that we can understand!
Past topics have ranged from everything under the sun (or… around the sun? You get it.), including:
- supermassive black holes
- the expansion rate of the Universe
- the Milky Way
- Galactic Archaeology
- life cycles of stars
And so. much. more!
What can attendees expect at Astronomy on Tap?

On top of a fantastic lecture by a local scholar and astronomy expert, Astronomy on Tap also has lots of other fun things to offer. Events include discussion of recent space news, fun games and cool prizes, oh, and delicious local drinks, of course!
But possibly the best part of the event? After the lecture and discussions, attendees get to look through an 8-inch telescope for star and planet-gazing.
Where does Astronomy on Tap happen in Atlanta?

Astronomy on Tap Atlanta is partnered with all locations of Three Taverns Brewery, including their newest location on the Beltline, right next to Ponce City Market!
And if you missed a lecture you really wanted to see, don’t fret. You can check out all the recordings of their events on their YouTube channel, here!
