It’s time to CELEBRATE, Atlanta!
The Atlanta Botanical Garden has taken home a huge honor–the best professional Christmas lights in the country!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on Tuesday night, ABC announced that the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s ‘Garden Lights, Holiday Nights’ won the best light display in the country in the professional category! Along with the honor and gloating rights of winning also came a $50,000 prize!
What did the judges say?
ABC’s Christmas Lights Judge, Taniya Nayak, said of the garden lights display, “It feels like it’s raining Christmas!” She then added, “You took this botanical garden, and it was like you sprinkled Christmas seeds everywhere. And then you cultivated the soil with love, and all of the sudden, it blossomed a Christmas perennial — and it was just magic!”
According to The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Atlanta Botanical Garden president and chief executive since 2002, Mary Pat Matheson, said, “We always knew we put on a fabulous light show, but after 13 years to be honored on the national level like this just validates that all the hard work our staff puts into staging and running this demanding show has paid off.”
The AJC also reports, “The show awarded the garden the Light Fight trophy, which will be displayed in the garden’s visitor senter. The Atlanta Botanical Garden also took home the grand prize of $50,000, which will support the garden’s mission work.” So in other words, you can go see their shiny new trophy! And all that winning money will go right back to helping make the garden even more beautiful for the coming seasons.
Okay, wait! I wanna see it!
