How hot is it going to be in Atlanta today?

It’s going to be HOT. Today is definitely a day to stay inside as much as possible. The actual temperatures outside will probably be just shy of 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
And the heat index, or ‘feels like’ temperatures, could get as hot as 110 degrees today. There is a heat advisory in place from 12pm to 8pm tonight, Monday, June 29th, 2026.
What should I do to stay safe?

Because these are hazardous weather conditions, there are some things you need to do to stay safe.
To keep you safe, the National Weather Service recommends,
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
This most important thing to do is to stay cool. You can learn more about how to stay safe in extreme heat on the Georgia Emergency Management & Homeland Security Agency’s (or, GEMA) website, here.
One of their very important tips is:
Spend time in air-conditioned places. If you cannot afford an air conditioner, spend some time each day in an air-conditioned environment such as public libraries, shopping malls or other indoor public spaces.
Stay safe in all this heat, Atlanta.
