It’s about to be HOT in the ATL this weekend into early next week, and we don’t just mean because there are tons of fun things happening to get excited for!
We’re expecting actual temperatures in the 90s this weekend into early next week. And the ‘feels like’ temperature will skyrocket even higher.
How hot is it going to feel like?

Atlanta News First reports,
Temperatures will climb into the 90s this weekend and reach the mid-90s by early next week. But it’s not just the temperature — the heat index is expected to approach 100 degrees by Saturday and Sunday. This kind of heat requires caution. Limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, stay hydrated and check on elderly neighbors and pets. Air conditioning will be essential.
Atlanta News First reported on Instagram that Sunday, the temperatures could ‘feel like’ 103 degrees and by Monday, it could ‘feel like’ 105 in Atlanta.
What should I do during this type of heat?

This most important thing to do is to stay cool. Stay inside, out of the heat as much as possible. If you do have to go outside, make sure you’re wearing weather-protective gear. Don’t forget your sunscreen, UV sunglasses, a water bottle for hydration, and cool clothing.
You can learn more about how to stay safe in extreme heat on the Georgia Emergency Management & Homeland Security Agency’s (or, GEMA) website, here. One of their very important tips is:
Spend time in air-conditioned places. If you cannot afford an air conditioner, spend some time each day in an air-conditioned environment such as public libraries, shopping malls or other indoor public spaces.
Stay safe this weekend, Atlanta! It’s going to be a super hot one out there.
