The Atlanta Quilt Festival is kicking off August with a truly beautiful festival of fiber arts! Showcasing over 150 gorgeous African-American inspired quilts, and hosting workshops, lectures and beyond, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the festival. Keep scrolling to learn more.
What is the Atlanta Quilt Festival?
The Atlanta Quilt Festival is an annual celebration of all things quilting and fiber arts!
This year’s festival features master quilter Jeanette Walton, who will share her expertise with AQF quilters throughout the festival. Classes are available for Friday, August 14th and Saturday, August 15th, 2026. In addition, Walton will host a Trunk Show on Saturday, August 15th, 2026 to showcase her quilt collection.
The Atlanta Quilt Festival is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of African American quilts and other textile art.
O.V. Brantley, CEO & Co-founder of Atlanta Quilt Festival, said in a statement,
We are thrilled to see how much the AQF has grown over the last 18 years, and we are very excited to share that growth with our local community and quilt lovers everywhere. Our partnership with the City of South Fulton & Southwest Arts Center has truly taken us to the next level.
The Grand Opening
The Opening Reception for AQF is Sunday, August 2nd from 11am – 4 pm at Southwest Arts Center.
In addition to viewing the exhibits, attendees can shop vendors, attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 2 p.m., and enjoy refreshments. The Opening Reception is free and open to the public.
What can festival-goers expect?
On top of getting to enjoy the beautiful quilts, the AQF also hosts lots of classes, workshops, lectures and showcases!
