November’s full moon is tonight, and we’re so excited for the biggest and brightest moon of the year! Keep scrolling for all the details on this November’s Supermoon: the Beaver Supermoon.
When is the Beaver Supermoon?
This year, Atlantans can look up to the skies to see the biggest full moon of the year! The full Supermoon will be fully illuminated on November 5th, 2025 at 8:19am, Eastern Time.
Why is it called the Beaver Supermoon?

There are lots of reasons that the Beaver Moon might be called that. One theory, according to the Farmers’ Almanac is:
America’s largest rodent knows that late autumn is the time to build a home. Beavers get busy this time of year finalizing their lodges, which is one possible explanation as to how the November full Moon became known as the Beaver Moon.
There are also some other names for the Beaver Moon, like:
- The Panther Moon
- The Deer Rutting Moon
- The Fledgling Hawk Moon
- The Turkey Moon
- The Frost Moon
Most of these names, including the Beaver Moon, come from different indigenous groups around the country.
Why is the Beaver Supermoon bigger than normal full moons?

The moon will be closer than average to the Earth, in a stage called perigee, this November, making it appear larger than normal in the sky.
This is also why it’s called a Supermoon, which occurs when the moon is in perigee, coinciding with a full moon.
The Beaver Moon will not be the last Supermoon of the year, however. December’s Cold Moon will also be a Supermoon. It just won’t be quite as big.
So look to the skies, Atlanta! It’s time for the full Beaver Supermoon!
