We say, take that pressure off your shoulders by selecting one of Atlanta’s many casual eats, where you can enjoy sampling some of the most beloved menus in the ATL. From burgers & beer to breakfast bites, burritos to bagels and beyond, there’s something for everyone on this list of no-nonsense bars & restaurants in Atlanta.
1. Muchacho
Where: Reynoldstown
One of the cutest places to start your day with a cup of Joe and some breakfast tacos, Muchacho has completely transformed the historic Atlanta & West Point Railroad building. However, their Mexican-inspired offerings don’t stop there. With cocktails and tempting bites also available throughout the day and into the night.
2. K & K Soul Food
Where: Bankhead
It would be rude to create a casual eats round-up of Atlanta and not include a soul food safe-haven. K & K Soul Food has become an institutional eat in Bankhead since opening in 1968. We recommend heading here for some breakfast, but you’re in for a true Southern feast regardless of the time you visit. Expect ATL staples like warm cornbread, collard greens, fried chicken and candied yams.
3. Jack’s Pizza & Wings
Where: Old Fourth Ward
One of our favorite spots for hot wings in Atlanta, Jack’s Pizza & Wings is the perfect place where spice-lovers and spice-avoiders unite for a fast-food feast. From a top-notch selection of pizza slices to their beloved wings, this no-nonsense bar is a great spot for some after-work drinks or a weekend hangout.
4. Hot Dog Pete’s
Where: Summerhill
If your favorite all-American culinary classic is the hot dog, and you’ve yet to pay a visit to Hot Dog Pete’s, then this is your sign to do so! Their tempting menu of loaded dogs has gained quite the cult following, with this Summerhill staple a great spot to enjoy some beers and hang out with friends or family.
5. Pijiu Belly
Where: Home Park
For unique twists on Southern cuisine, head to Pijiu Belly for American-meets-Asian dishes, many of which have become ATLien obsessions. With an awesome atmosphere and friendly vibes, this special fusion of Korean, Asian, and Atlantan dishes is not to be missed. We recommend checking out their weekend brunch or getting a bento box, available Monday through Friday from 11am until 3pm.
6. Atkins Park Bar & Restaurant
Where: Atkins Park.
Originally opened as a deli in 1922, this Atkins Park gem is now home to an all-American fare, serving up tempting comfort dishes and drinks. 7. Glide Pizza
Where: Old Fourth Ward

Where: Old Fourth Ward, near Ponce City Market
Eats restaurant is an authentic Atlanta eatery serving up an eclectic variety of healthy foods guaranteed to satisfy even the pickiest eater! Eats offers affordable healthy fast food with delicious homestyle staples like baked chicken, meatloaf, chicken lasagna and fresh vegetables. We suggest sampling their soul food dishes, or something pasta-based.
9. Little Rey
Where: Piedmont Heights
Another beloved Mexican addition to the list, people visit Little Rey for the mouth-watering food on offer but return for the unbeatable vibes and even more dishes from their contemporary menu. You can’t leave without trying one (or a couple) of their fruity margaritas, but have that designated driver or Uber at the ready.
10. Umbrella Bar
Where: Ponce City Market
Ponce City Market is Old Fourth Ward’s most iconic attractions, with Atlantans and tourists alike agreeing that’s it’s one of the most beloved things to do in the city. One of our favorite places to eat at the ATL icon is Umbrella Bar, inspired by the delicious Korean night markets seen throughout the country. We’re obsessed with their K-Dogs, but theirs an entire menu of impressionable bites!
11. Marietta Diner
Where: Marietta
This classic neon-fronted American diner is one of Marietta’s most recognizable eats. So much so, Jack Harlow has even been spotted hanging at the diner (pictured above). This 24/7 hotspot is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, so take you’re pick, or experience all three!
12. Hattie B’s Chicken
Where: Little 5 Points & West Midtown
This Nashville legend has solidified itself as Atlanta-approved, and that can be difficult when it comes to spicy chicken. From wings to tenders, sandwiches and more, make sure you check our Hattie B’s next time you’re craving some hot chicken.
