With cold weather every day now, the question is on everyone’s mind: is Atlanta going to have another snow day, like last January? Well… with snow and wintry weather mixes on the forecast, we can’t rule it out yet. Keep scrolling to see what we know so far!
When is it expected to snow in Atlanta?

Right now, the Weather Channel’s model for Atlanta expects rain all through the end of the week, with a possible wintry mix on the radar for Sunday, January 25th.
The next time snow showers hit the radar would be Saturday, January 31st, with a 50% chance of snow, and accumulations expected to be less than an inch.
What can I do to prep?

WAIT! Before you race out and buy allllll the milk and bread: here’s what you need to know. Expect to stay inside and off the roads during winter weather, so do stock up on some essentials. Have blankets, food for a couple days, medical equipment you use/prescriptions.
Fox 5 Atlanta says,
Don’t overstock, just enough to last you one week. Three days out from a storm is when the ‘bread and milk’ rush will start, clearing out the shelves faster than stores can restock.
Oh, and you’ll probably want to make sure your phone is all charged up!
Of course, know that weather is apt to change–sometimes at the last minute. So while we’re expecting snow ~now~ that doesn’t mean it necessarily WILL snow. We’ve just gotta keep an eye out and see what happens! Either way, it’s best the be prepared.
Also note, the City of Atlanta always opens warming centers ahead of cold weather. As the centers open, you can check their press releases on the city’s website, here.
Stay safe and warm, Atlanta!
