Atlanta got some sad news today from the founder of the the city’s only cabaret supper club, Dave Green. The new 1920s/Golden Age Hollywood supper club, Damsel, is closing its doors for good after being open for less than a year. Damsel’s instagram account, @damselatlanta shared the news from the founder:
We’re so sad to see this incredibly cool concept go so soon.
What is Damsel?
Damsel was Atlanta’s first cabaret supper club. From the exciting news that it was opening, less than a year ago to some truly massive headliners like CeeLo Green’s performance there, Damsel was a cultural reset for Atlanta.
Their goal to redefine the nightlife experience in the city was a lofty one, but a very lovely one. Offering delectable craft cocktails, delicious bites, and of course, stunning performances in the style of an old Broadway cabaret club, Damsel definitely had a beautiful vibe.
What are people saying?
Lots of comments on the original post are showing their support for Damsel, and many Atlantans are expressing remorse that they never got the chance to visit.
One commenter writes “Atlanta wasn’t ready.” Someone else writes “LOVED it and so sad to see it go. The concept, the people, and the beauty was unmatched.” Another commenter writes, “Wow!! Heartbreaking bc it has only been 6 months. Atlanta really needed this type of experience. My heart goes out to you all.”
