Beer-lovers, rejoice! It’s almost time for the iconic SUDS Beer Festival in Decatur!
What is the festival?
Started in 1998 as The Decatur Craft Beer Festival, SUDS–or, Simply Us Doing Our Share–Beer Festival is back and bigger than ever this year! So get ready to bottoms-up and sample as many brews from the over 70 local and international breweries as your hear desires. And feel good about it too! SUDS reinvests all the proceeds from the festival back into the community by donating it to organizations located at Legacy Park.
One of the founders Mike Gallagher shared in a press release, “Think of SUDS as a reimagined beer festival with a more strategic focus on the approach–a new way to give back to those who are the backbone of our Decatur home. We have rebranded and found a new spot to call home at Legacy Park so, we are ready to crush the craft beer list and raise the bar regarding nonprofit awareness!”
What are the details?
This year’s festival will take place on October 15th from 12 P.M. to 5 P.M.
Attendees can expect lots of booths with friendly volunteers ready to talk about the surrounding organizations that focus on everything from growing organic vegetables, to raising kids with art and music, and how the community can support the unhoused population.
The festival will also feature music from Blacktop Rockets, Penelope Road and Bogey and The Viceroy. And to top it all off, several breweries have a special beer they’ll be unveiling at the festival, so check it out to get a first look… or, rather, a first sip! SUDS Festival founders describe the event as a “backyard beer experience.”
And no festival is complete without some local food, of course! Guests can get excited for an excellent selection of treats and eats!
The festival will take place at Legacy Park in Decatur, and is only for 21+. No kids or pets are allowed.
