Dia de Muertos (or Day of the Dead) is upon us. There’s no better way to honor and celebrate this Mexican holiday than checking out Roswell’s Dia de Muertos festival. Although the holiday is usually celebrated on November 1 & 2, this unmissable day of fun will be taking place on Saturday, October 29.
You can expect a plethora of festive activities, entertainment, and food vendors, as the festival gears up for its anticipated return.
Traditional entertainment on offer includes mind-blowing street performers, a Mexican ballet group, and a live mariachi band! On-site vendors will be serving up Mexican cuisine classics, such as empanadas, tacos, tamales, and more!
You’ll even be able to visit an Ofrenda, an authentic, traditional altar honoring family and friends who have passed. Bring a copy of a photo or a small memento of a loved one to place at the altar.
Of course, no Dia de los Muertos celebration is complete without some face paint. Traditional candy skull face painting will be available throughout the day festival.
If you’re really looking to celebrate, then there’s also a chance to sample the boozy and delicious flavors of Mexico, with a specialty tequila and margarita tasting experience on offer. For $35 you will receive 8 tokens that can be used to taste any combination of 6 different types of specialty margaritas and 4 different types of Tequila.
Dressing up is encouraged, with a costume contest set to take place towards the end of the day, and the winner is set to receive a grand cash prize. For more information on this incredible Dia de los Muertos celebration, visit their website.
