From craft cocktails to boozy tasting experience, don’t miss out on Atlanta’s thriving distillery scene
If you’re a lover of all things liquor, whether it’s vodka, whiskey, tequila, or beyond, the ATL has a distillery for you! From a spectacular space that doubles as a modern art museum, to our beloved hometown heroes of distillery. Here are six unbeatable distilleries in and around Atlanta.
1. ASW Distillery
Where: Armour (and other locations around Atlanta)
Only a stone’s throw away from Stonehurst Place, ASW Distillery is a classy establishment offering amazing tours, tasting room experiences, and so much more. With origins in Ireland, France and the UK, this historic addition to ATL’s distillery scene is famous for their awesome selection of bourbons & whiskey, but there’s vodka, gin, and more available.
They distill their vodka & gin at their Battery Atlanta location (199 Armour Drive), and age the whiskies at their West End location (1000 White Street). However, no matter where you go, you can expect killer cocktails and even better vibes. Make sure to try one of their slushies!
2. Distillery of Modern Art
Where: Chamblee
The newest addition on the scene, the Distillery of Modern Art has solidified itself as one of the most unique and artsy distilleries in the Peach State! You can even try their Peach Flavored Vodka, an homage to our glorious state. Their special selection of liquor is screaming for some crafty cocktail creativity, and they did not disappoint.
Turning the act of distilling into an artform, not only are their drinks a masterpiece, but the space doubles as a modern art museum. Enjoy your cocktail against the backdrop of a dynamic gallery showcasing talented local artists. Click here for more information.
3. Old Fourth Distillery
Where: Old Fourth Ward
Old Fourth Distillery was started by 2 Brothers who decided to open Atlanta’s first distillery in 1906. Hosting an array of fun events throughout the year, make sure to follow them on Instagram to stay up-to-date with their unmissable line-up. But if you’d just prefer to quench your thirst, try out a drink (or three) from their beloved cocktail menu.
We suggest trying out the classic Old Fashioned, with many ATLiens stating that O4D is the best spot in the city for the staple cocktail.
4. Independent Distilling Company
Where: Decatur
Independent Distilling Company was established 2014 to produce small-batch handcrafted spirits that focus on local and quality ingredients in Georgia. They’ve already come a long way since then, become a must-see hotspot in Decatur.
We always get a specialty flight of spirits when we’re at this charming distillery. We’ve got a soft-spot for the the Apple Brandy, offering flavors of honey, juicy fresh apple, floral notes, baking spice, nutmeg and touch of toasted oak.
5. Hippin’ Hops
Where: East Lake
Hippin’ Hops have become one of Atlanta’s hottest craft breweries. However, their East Lake location on Hosea takes things to the next level with their unqiue Brew-Stillery love-child, combining top-notch beer with cocktails, and a tempting menu to match!
The cocktail menu is to die for, but we recommend trying out a frozen cocktail. Either the Frozen Peach Margarita or the Strawberry Moscow Mule. They go down a treat when that Georgia sunshine in shining bright.
6. Lazy Guy Distillery
Where: Kennesaw
If you’re a whiskey lover, then Lazy Guy Distillery is for you. The office and distillery buildings date back to the 1800’s and have a rich heritage themselves. These historic buildings have witnessed many changes over the decades, but nowadays, it’s a very special addition to Georgia’s spirit scene.
You can visit the distillery on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays to enjoy their handcrafted spirit cocktails. Make sure to check out what seasonal cocktails are on offer, as they always stand out above the already legendary cocktail menu.
