Duke Creek Falls Trail

Duke Creek Falls Trial is a stunning North Georgia hiking trail just south of Hiawassee, Georgia (think the Helen area). It’s a beautiful hike through the mountains, with plenty of views of streams, forests, and of course, waterfalls!
Atlanta Trails says,
The trail descends alongside a shallow, mossy stream, hiking to several large, cascading waterfalls that tumble at the convergence of Davis Creek and Dukes Creek. At the falls, several large wooden viewing platforms offer stunning views of the main attraction overhead: the exceptionally dramatic, multi-tiered, 150-foot-tall drop of Dukes Creek Falls.
According to Helen’s official website, there is a $3.00 per person fee to enter the trailhead and parking area.
How hard is this hike?

This hike is only moderately difficult, so it’s great for kids and well-behaved, leashed dogs.
The entire journey is about 2 miles, roundtrip, with views of the waterfall at one mile in.
Safety reminders

This is a popular trail, and many people hike it year round, however, it is also in the heart of bear country. This wilderness area is a frequent black bear spotting sight, so be sure to keep all food items and fragrant cosmetics out of reach in a bear canister.
The trail also states: “Slippery rocks and fast moving water can be extremely dangerous! Please don’t climb, stand on, swim near, or jump from any waterfall.”
