About Union City
Union City is a Metro ATL city, just 20 minutes outside of Atlanta proper. Located in South Fulton, Union City is a vibrant community with tons of opportunities. After declining for years after the Shannon Mall in Union City shut down, Union City is now on the up and up!
11Alive News attributes this success to Atlanta Metro Studios, the “sound-stage complex [which] opened in 2016 on 25 acres where Shannon Mall once stood.” According to 11Alive, it created hundreds of jobs, attracted new companies to the area, and boosted small businesses. Mayor Williams specifically noted the local barber shops, which are helped immensely by the businesses returning to Union City.
What’s in store for Union City?
11Alive News reports:
Union City leaders are now focused on making the community a more attractive place to live by adding more parks, restaurants and retail. They’d also like to create a downtown area eventually.
