This weekend is the Fourth of July, and we’re celebrating in a big way here in the ATL! Not only is it our Independence Day… but it’s a big one! 250 years! What’s closed in Atlanta on Friday, July 3rd?
Importantly, because 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year, we’re publicly observing Independence Day on Friday, July 3rd. These government offices will be closed for July 3rd, in observance:
- Federal government offices
- Federal courts
- Post offices (regular mail delivery resumes as normal)
- Most state and municipal offices
- DMV branches
- Public libraries
- Stock markets: the NYSE and Nasdaq
On the other hand, most retail and grocery stores will be open for July 3rd, as well as Banks and the Federal Reserve. *Check your local banks to be sure, however.
What’s open in Atlanta this 4th of July?
Of course, check your local store’s hours to be sure, since some might have modified hours for the 4th of July, but in general, these stores and restaurants will be open on 4th of July:
- Publix
- Walmart
- Kroger
- Target
- Chick-fil-A
- Zaxby’s
- Waffle House (duh)
- Walgreens
- CVS
- Aldi (with modified hours)
- Sam’s Club (with modified hours)
What’s closed in Atlanta this 4th of July?
Most stores will remain open on 4th of July, but Costco will close all locations on Saturday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.
