Summers in Atlanta can get pretty hot (we’re talking about temperatures, of course), but even for us, this weekend is going to be a sweaty one. According to the Weather Channel, Atlanta could see temperatures as high as 98 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday, June 15th.
According to the Weather Channel, this is “near record high temperatures” for June. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently reported that actual air temperature hasn’t reached 100 degrees since 2019, five years ago. With temperatures getting so high before it’s even officially summer, we wonder if they’ll touch 100 degrees this year.
Of course, it’s like anyone in Atlanta will tell you: it’s not the heat that’ll get you. It’s the humidity. Thankfully, the humidity won’t be as bad as it could be–staying around 47% on Saturday and 49% on Sunday during the day.
More on the forecast
The National Weather Channel has the UV index for both Saturday and Sunday at a 10 of 11. That means the sun’s rays will be particularly intense, and if possible, stay out of the sun to protect yourself! If you need to be in the sun, make sure to wear protective clothing, like a hat and sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen!
There’s a very low chance of rain on Saturday, and a higher, 40% chance of rain on Sunday.
The heat wave looks like it’ll continue into next week, so make sure you’re prepared for a full week of hot weather as we gear up for the official start of summer on June 20th!
