Nestled among North Georgia’s gorgeous mountains is one of our state’s most magical places to visit. Helen, Georgia’s very-own German Alpine village, is home to one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations in the state! Helen has a wonderful reputation for all of its festivals throughout the year, and Oktoberfest is one of the most well-known and loved. Attendees to the festival dawn their lederhosen and dirndls each year, and enjoy a plethora of festive activities!
When is it?
Helen’s Oktoberfest runs from Thursday to Sunday through September, and every day from Sept. 28 to Oct. 29, 2023. Doors open at 6pm on weekdays and 1pm on weekends!
The event is open to all, however, weekdays tend to be a bit more family-friendly while weekends are more geared toward college and tour groups.
Admission is $10 during the week, $12 on Saturdays, and free of charge on Sunday.
What should guests expect?
After you arrive in Helen and take in the amazing sights of this quaint German town right here in our very own state, you can a whole host of fun Oktoberfest festivities. The festival takes place in the town’s permanent riverside festival hall, or Festhalle. There, you’ll find tons of traditional dancing, like the Polka, German music, delicious traditional food, and, of course, all the beer your heart desires.

There’s also so much to do in the area after you’ve enjoyed the festivities. Make a weekend out of your trip, and take a hike on one of Helen’s gorgeous hiking trails. You can also explore the enchanting artisan shops in town to find local art. And definitely don’t miss out on a trip to their delectable chocolate factory for a sweet treat!
