President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, has passed away today, Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at about 3:45pm. According to a new report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “the former president died at his home in Plains [Georgia].”
President Jimmy Carter is the only U.S. president who comes from the state of Georgia.
Jimmy Carter’s Funeral
According to a release from The Carter Center,
There will be public observances in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., followed by a private interment in Plains, Georgia. The final arrangements for President Carter’s state funeral, including all public events and motorcade routes, are still pending. The schedule will be released by the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region.
The Carter family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Carter Center.
