What is La Cueva?
La Cueva is a new speakeasy concept that’s coming to the Ponce City Market later this year.
Designed by Maison Maluee, the 2,700-square-foot space tucked away behind a barber shop will be thoughtfully arranged to create a layered guest experience. Around 75 seats will be distributed between plush lounge areas, an inviting bar, and a versatile side section that can be transformed into a private enclave for intimate gatherings. A small stage will serve as the heart of the space, welcoming live musical performances and DJs.
Where is La Cueva located?
Hidden in the heart of Midtown, La Cueva will be tucked away in the back of a barber shop in the Ponce City Market!
It’s a speakeasy, though, so it will be a bit hard to find. Here’s how you can get it: La Cueva will actually be located on the second floor of the Central Food Hall in the spot that was formerly home to Root Baking Co.
According to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
The entrance to the speakeasy will be through a separate elevator corridor near the barbershop… [the barbershop] will have its own entrance and a row of glass windows that lets passersby see inside, while the speakeasy won’t be visible at all from Ponce City Market or the barbershop.
When will La Cueva open?
La Cueva is set to open near the end of 2025. We don’t have an exact date yet, but as soon as we know, you’ll know!
What’s on the menu at La Cueva?
The menu will feature a thoughtful beverage selection, including an extensive mezcal offering, creative cocktails, wine, and beer, alongside Mexican botanas and larger dishes for sharing from Chef Luis Damian, who’s behind Atlanta-area Mexican restaurants Oaxaca in Chamblee, El Valle in Midtown, and Casa Balam, a 2025 James Beard Award Semifinalist for Best New Restaurant, in Decatur.
Expect modern Mexican botanas (snacks), and deliciously hand-crafted cocktails!
