And there might just be a new official Georgia symbol in the books: an official chicken wing flavor–lemon pepper, of course! It’s not secret… Atlantans love lemon pepper. Wait… what? There’s a house bill about lemon pepper wings?

Yep. You read that right! Representative Eric Bell (D-Jonesboro) introduced a bill to the Georgia House of Representatives with co-sponsors Dexter Sharper (D-Valdosta), Kasey Carpenter (R-Dalton), David Huddleston (R-Roopville) and Mekyah McQueen (D-Smyrna) that would officially declare lemon pepper as the official state chicken wing flavor.
Bell said in an Instagram post,
This is a lighthearted bill, but it carries real meaning. Lemon pepper wings are a fan-favorite that bring people together across race, culture, class and community.
And it’s true. You can’t come to Atlanta without trying lemon pepper wings! And our love for lemon pepper has catapulted the flavor into the global food scene.
