Mercedes-Benz is getting a new name. Well, sorta. In accordance with FIFA’s ‘clean zone’ regulations, Mercedes-Benz must remove all corporate branding. And that includes the stadium’s name. Keep scrolling to learn more.
So what will we call The Benz… er… the stadium?
Mercedes-Benz will temporarily be called Atlanta Stadium for the duration of the World Cup.
A new report by GPB states,
Organizers are working to take down nearly 2,000 corporate logos in and around the stadium before the games to comply with FIFA’s Clean zone regulations.
And now you might be thinking… wait. Doesn’t The Benz have a massive logo on the side of the building? Yep. It’s got to be taken care of. But the hardest challenge will probably be covering the logo on the opening and closing roof of the stadium.

Stadium Operations Vice President, Adam Fullerton, says
There’s a really, really nice Mercedes-Benz emblem that’s built into those pillows [on the roof]. So it’s a white pillow system with a black emblem on it and the emblem’s literally built into the material. So we’ve got to go out on those pillows and actually cover up the emblem and make that kind of kind of disappear.
When is the change happening?
Local reports state that the logo removals will begin in late May of this year, during ATL United’s season break.
