Music festival lovers, we’ve got some bad news. In a new post on Instagram, Music Midtown has announced that they will be “going on hiatus this year.” This means that the iconic music festival will not be happening in 2024. They encourage music fans to “stay tuned [on their instagram @musicmidtown] for future updates.”
In the post, Music Midtown also encouraged fans to continue supporting live music in the ATL, even while they’re away.
What is Music Midtown?
Music Midtown is a truly legendary music festival that has taken place in Atlanta for nearly 3 decades. The festival began in 1994, and ran until 2005. After a multi-year hiatus, they returned in 2011-2021, and then again in 2023. Currently, nothing is known about the future of the festival, but we do know there will be no festival this year, 2024. Right now, the cause for the hiatus is unknown.
Music Midtown is a festival that celebrates the best music from all over. With indie, pop, hip-hop and more on display, they draw a wide crowd from all over the world. The festival is usually held in Piedmont Park in September.
This shocking news that they will no longer be producing the festival for 2024 comes as a shock, since many were waiting on them to release the lineup for the festival soon. Many commenters on their Instagram announcement are disappointed, and are asking for details about why. As soon as we know, we’ll let you know!
If you’re one of the music festival lovers who was waiting to hear about the lineup for this year’s Music Midtown festival, we are sorry to deliver the bad news. Thankfully, Atlanta has plenty of live music to tide you over. Remember to check out the Jazz Festival at the end of the month! (You can check out the details for that here!)
