What’s going in?

Earlier this year, MARTA announced a massive change: they’re launching the most technologically advanced trains in the country. And now, they’re finally here!

Wait… can I ride the most technologically advanced train in the U.S.?
YES! You can! Starting next week, actually.
After the initial “first ride,” which will take the same route as MARTA’s first-ever train ride in 1979, MARTA states that “several new trains will officially enter public revenue service later that day, June 4, 2026.”
So you’ll be able to catch a brand new train beginning next week!
Can I watch the first ride depart?

Yes, yes! Come be a part of history and watch the first CQ400 train depart in one week, on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The train will depart at 10:55am from Avondale Station (908 Sycamore St., Decatur, Ga. 30030).
Among the other attendees aboard, Mayor Andre Dickens will ride the train’s inaugural route!
The new trains will feature:
- open gangways

- wireless charging stations
