Can I see the Northern Lights in Atlanta?

It depends. You can’t see the Northern Lights this far south with the naked eye, but grab your camera, and you might just be in luck!
11Alive gives tips on how to see the Northern Lights with your phone camera. Here’s what they recommend,
The trick is to set the phone camera to night mode and long exposure. This might make the faint light on the horizon more visible through your phone lens.
Some people in North Georgia have reported being able to see faint colors with the naked eye, but so far, no one from the ATL. It will also help to be away from city lights, so if you drive out a bit, you’ve got a better chance of seeing the colors!
When should I look for the Northern Lights in the sky?
NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center says the best time to check for the lights is between 10pm on November 11th, 2025 and 2am local time, with peak activity ending around 1am.
These states will have an easier time seeing the lights, and will probably even be able to see them with the naked eye:
