We’ve got big news, Atlanta! The red pandas are MOVING at Zoo Atlanta… with both some happy and bittersweet news! Keep scrolling to learn all about the red panda happenings at Zoo Atlanta.
Say hello to Paprika!

Paprika is Zoo Atlanta’s most recent new resident, and we couldn’t be more excited to meet her soon! She’s an adorable 4 year old female red panda… and she’ll fit right in at Zoo Atlanta.
According to Zoo Atlanta,
Paprika arrived at the Zoo on June 15, 2026, from the Lee Richardson Zoo in Garden City, Kansas. Paprika’s move was recommended by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Red Panda Species Survival Plan® (SSP). She will complete a routine quarantine period behind the scenes before exploring her outdoor habitat, so she is not yet visible to Members and guests.
So even though you can’t visit her quite yet, you’ll be able to soon! We’ll keep ya updated.
And say goodbye (and well wishes!) to Rose!

In more red panda news, Rose, is about to set off on a new adventure!
The zoo states,
The red panda currently at Zoo Atlanta, 5-year-old Rose, will be embarking on her own new chapter in the coming weeks. In another SSP endorsement, Rose has been recommended to move to another AZA-accredited organization, where she will be paired with a male.
So while we’re sad to see Rose go, we’re very excited for this next chapter in her life and in the conservation of red pandas!
