The luxury mall is about to become even more luxurious!
If you haven’t heard, Phipps Plaza is getting an impressive makeover, as their awesome expansion gets closer and closer to completion! The expansion features a new plaza area, and will eventually include a 13-story office building, Nobu Hotel and its world-famous sushi restaurant, LifeTime Fitness, and Citizens Food Hall with restaurant stalls like Umami Burger, Sam’s Crispy Chicken, and more.
Nobu Hotels has partnered with Simon Property Group to create and launch a new Nobu Hotel & Restaurant in this mixed-use development. The luxury hotel and its sushi counterpart won’t be open until 2022, but there’s plenty to be excited about.
There will also be a Mexican-Spanish restaurant opening on site, with plans to open next fall. The eatery comes from the former owner of Red Pepper Taqueria, so we know we’re in excellent hands! The chef, Mimmo Alboumeh, left Red Pepper Taqueria last May, to focus on this new project. The menu is not only inspired by his love of Mexican food, but also his time in Spain, and Italy.
Mayor Kasim Reed said in a statement about Phipps, “This new development project at Phipps Plaza is another example of the company’s ongoing commitment to and investment in Atlanta. As the Buckhead community continues to grow, projects like this will help create greater connectivity to the amenities our residents and visitors want — as well as more opportunities for businesses to thrive.”
