The vibrant, multimedia Picasso exhibition has finally opened in Atlanta, taking guests through a spectacular journey of the art master’s most iconic masterpieces. Imagine Picasso: The Immersive Experience is an exhilarating exhibit with its grand opening unveiling on March 17 in Atlanta at the historic Pullman Yards at 225 Rogers St. NE, in the Kirkwood neighborhood. Be prepared to be mesmerized by over 200 of Picasso’s paintings selected by art historian Androula Michael, from the cubism and surrealism movements to the Bleu and Rose periods.
This multimedia exhibition uses Image Totale© technology to project Picasso’s vibrant, colorful work onto the venue’s soaring walls, splashed across the floors, as well as projecting onto large, angular-shaped origami modules created by famed French architect Rudy Ricciotti. These immense structures are placed strategically throughout the venue where guests can walk around them, giving viewers an entirely new perspective of Picasso’s incredible work. This makes this digital exhibition completely different from any other immersive exhibit we’ve seen thus far!
The extraordinary Imagine Picasso exhibition takes place in Building 1 at the iconic Pullman Yards, located in the Pratt Pullman Landmark District, sitting on 27 acres encompassing twelve historic buildings on the premises. This notable location sets the stage for this extraordinary digital art exhibition. Known as a “creative city within a city,” the venue selection of Pullman Yards plays a prominent role in this impactful, upcoming art experience.
The unique venue has landmark status and is steeped in rich Atlantean history. The site was initially used as farmland over one hundred years ago before becoming Pratt Engineering in 1904, then was used for manufacturing railcars until the 1980s as The Pullman Company. Hollywood has even filmed blockbuster movies there, such as The Hunger Games, Divergent and Bad Boys 3.
Fast forward to 2017, and the site was purchased by Atomic Entertainment, which infused $100 million into the mixed-use project, creating the multi-use venues there today. Pullman Yards has already hosted a slew of glittery, multisensory artistic events. Seeing Picasso’s masterpieces come alive at a scale that’s larger than life at this historic venue is incredible.
Imagine Picasso is fun and educational for the whole family! The Exhibition is hosting an interactive scavenger hunt where kids will answer questions, learn fun facts about the renowned artist Pablo Picasso and his works as they venture through the exhibit. Once they complete the hunt, they take their answer to the box office for a special prize. We’re excited to bring this new level of interaction to the space and create an engaging opportunity for families to complete together. The Scavenger Hunt is perfect for those aged 5 to 12.
