Spring is here, Atlanta! And there are so many fun things to do this Spring in the ATL! But with the new season, of course, comes the pollen. And this year… it’s already looking bad!
How bad is the pollen this year?
According to the meteorology team at WSB-TV 2,
Less than a week ago, Atlanta had its highest pollen count for the year. Now, it’s almost doubled for another high… Monday’s pollen count is 3,028, mostly owed to pine, oak, birch, hackberry and sweet gum.
That means that the pollen is already out, and you’re gonna start sneezing!
Here’s what you should remember to do on high pollen days:
- Keep your car and house windows closed; run the air conditioner (recycled setting) instead.
- Change and clean your air filters on a regular basis.
- Shower before bed/when you get home so you don’t carry pollen from the outside into your bed.
- Wear sunglasses to keep pollen out of your eyes.
- Take off your shoes when you get home, to avoid tracking pollen all through your house.
- If you have outdoor plans, take your allergy medication before going out. Don’t wait until you’re already sneezing!
- Stay inside when you can, until the pollen count is more manageable for you!
And of course, make sure to stock up on over-the-counter medicines like Zyrtec or Allegra.
You can check in on the daily pollen count by heading to the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma website here!
