Hold up… who is Punch the Monkey?
If you have no idea what we’re talking about, don’t worry! Let us get you up to speed. Punch the monkey is an adorable baby macaque at the Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan.
After being abandoned at birth by his mother, Punch was bottle fed by zookeepers and given an IKEA stuffed orangutan for comfort–the exact toy you see above.
A video of Punch getting thrown around by the other macaques in the enclosure (and him running back to his stuffed toy for comfort) went viral, breaking the internet’s heart for the little baby monkey. The zookeepers said that Punch is “mentally strong”, however.
Since his viral video, the Ichikawa City Zoo has seen a huge influx of visitors, all fans of baby Punch!
