If you’re looking for the perfect escape this year, you’ve got to check out Quercus, a micro resort hidden away in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. TIME Magazine calls it one of the 2026 ‘World’s Greatest Places’ to stay! Keep scrolling to learn more about Quercus.
What is Quercus?
Founded in 1977 by an Italian Duke and Duchess, Visconti di Modrone, Quercus Farm was an escape from a troubling time back home in Italy. The Duke and Duchess “fell in love with a piece of heaven in Gay, Georgia.”
The property was originally used as a fully functional ranch where the couple bred Limousin cattle, and then as a hunting (deer and quail) getaway. Now, guests can book their stay and tailor their experience exactly to their tastes.
Here’s what TIME has to say about Quercus,
After establishing the biodynamic farm at the heart of the project, nutritionist Chiara Visconti di Modrone and her husband, Angelos Pervanas, built four impeccable cabins—each with indoor-outdoor fireplaces and Frette-dressed mattresses made from organic New Zealand wool—across 3,800 acres of pine forest, cattle pasture, pecan groves, and fishing ponds. With so few guests, Quercus feels less like a hotel than an ag-obsessed aristocrat’s country estate—fitting, given Visconti di Modrone’s Milanese noble lineage.
I’ve gotta check out Quercus! Gimme the details!
