We’ve been hearing about ‘REAL IDs’ for a while now, but now we have an official date.
According to the TSA,
Beginning May 7, 2025, if you plan to use your state-issued ID or license to fly within the U.S., make sure it is REAL ID compliant. If you are not sure if your ID complies with REAL ID, check with your state department of motor vehicles.
If you’ve still got questions about the REAL ID, like, if you have one and what to do if you don’t, keep scrolling to learn all about REAL IDs in Georgia.
How do I know if my ID is REAL ID compliant?
According to the Georgia Department of Driver Services,
All permanent licenses issued in Georgia after 2012 are REAL ID Compliant.
You can check by looking in the upper right-hand corner of your license/ID. If you see a black or gold star, then you are all good to go! That means you have a REAL ID!
If you’re still confused, you can check on the U.S. Homeland Security’s website here!
How do I get a REAL ID?
Don’t see the gold or black star on your ID? Don’t sweat it! You can get a REAL ID by checking out the Georgia DDS website! Whether you’d like to apply for a driver’s license, an ID, or another form of identification, you can find everything you’re looking for here!
