If it seems like the entire city is powdered in a pale yellow coat today… that’s because it is. According to Atlanta’s Allergy & Asthma report, which is the city’s most-trusted allergy reporter, today’s pollen count is massively higher than ever recorded before.
The Atlanta Allergy & Asthma report announced that today’s pollen count came in at a whopping 14,801. This beats the all-time record of 9,368, which was recorded in March of 2012.
This also shatters the yearly record, of course, which was just over 3,000 on Monday (3/24/25).
What should I do to protect myself?

If you’re noticing an allergy flare right now, it’s definitely not surprising. More people are sneezing and getting pollen allergy symptoms because of the high pollen count, of course.
The best thing you can do to make your allergies go down/away would be to stay inside. As tempting as it might be to drive with the windows open or keep your windows open at your house–that is contributing to the itchy, allergic feeling you’re having!
Stay inside and if you have to go outside, limit your exposure by wearing a mask!

Here are some other tips:
- Keep your car and house windows closed; run the air conditioner (recycled setting) instead.
- Change and clean your air filters on a regular basis.
- Shower before bed/when you get home so you don’t carry pollen from the outside into your bed.
- Wear sunglasses to keep pollen out of your eyes.
- Take off your shoes when you get home, to avoid tracking pollen all through your house.
- If you have outdoor plans, take your allergy medication before going out. Don’t wait until you’re already sneezing!
- Stay inside when you can, until the pollen count is more manageable for you!
- And of course, make sure to stock up on over-the-counter medicines like Zyrtec or Allegra.
So while this information might not be shocking… it’s still crazy that the pollen count is already SO high here in the ATL! Stay safe and sniffle-free, Atlanta!
