Achoo! The Pollening is here, Atlanta. And we’re all suffering from watery eyes, runny noses, and sneezing when we go outside. You’ve probably noticed the yellow powdery pollen covering just about everything outside right now… and that’s because pollen is HERE. Keep scrolling to learn more.
How bad is the pollen right now?

Right now, tree pollen (the top contributors to pollen season currently) are ranking in the extreme, with a total pollen count today ranking just under 6,000 pollen grains per cubic meter of air.
The official count for yesterday was 6,563. Today’s current count is 5,902, according to Atlanta Allergy & Asthma.
What is the highest pollen count on record?

You actually probably remember it.
According to the Atlanta Allergy & Asthma organization, last year, pollen levels hit a record high, at a whopping 14,801 pollen grains per cubic meter of air on March 29th, 2025.
That’s nearly TRIPLE what it is today. And you can probably remember sneezing all day last March!
What should I do?

To keep the sneezing and itchy eyes at bay this pollen season, there are a couple things you can do. Here are a few recommendations:
- Avoid the pollen when you can – in other words, stay inside, and keep your windows closed. It’s tempting to drive with the windows down right now because of the nice weather, but… resist! Pollen will get all in your car or home, making it harder to clean out.
- Take off outdoor clothes when you come inside – change into clean clothes and put your pollen covered clothes in the wash.
- Rinse off after you’ve been outside – pollen will stick to your hair and skin, so a quick rinse off in the shower will help keep more pollen away.
- Start taking allergy meds – over the counter allergy medicine can help alleviate some of those sneezing symptoms.
Stay safe out there, Atlanta! And hang in there until the Pollening is officially over!
