With Atlanta maintaining its self-proclaimed title as one of the best cities to live in for foodies, we couldn’t help but wonder if there were even more restaurants we could add to our must visit list! After some visits and experiences, we found that East Atlanta has some foodie gems that are typically under the radar. Locals and tourist alike should make it appoint to visit these 5 restaurants right here in Atlanta’s backyard.
1. Octopus Bar
This restaurant has one of the most unique cuisine combinations in the city! Located off Gresham Rd. This bar is run by chef’s angus brown and Nhan Le, their different culinary backgrounds is what makes this such a gem in the restaurant community! Their menu changes daily, so customers should not get too attached to one specific dish. The experience and ambiance absolutely makes this spot perfect for late night bites and after club eats. Their hours are geared to the late night owls of our city (which is thoroughly appreciated). The non-traditional hours of 10:30pm – 2:30am are perfect those who work late night shifts looking for good eats without sacrificing quality.
2. Dailies & Sides
This newly erected restaurant is perfectly located at Pullman Yards! Having quickly become a hub for the art shows and exhibits, Daily & Slides is the perfect casual restaurant to visit after a show or if you just finished playing some pickle ball (also located at Pullman yards) or just happened to be enjoying a walk, Dailies and Sides is the perfect spot to visit! With an amazing grilled chicken sandwich and fingerling potatoes, you can’t go wrong at this casual eatery!
3. Homage
With Pullman Yard vastly becoming Atlanta’s latest location for immersive events, experiences and concerts, it’s only natural that restaurants start to sprout up around it! This highly anticipated restaurant opening is coming in the fall of 2022. The previous chef of St. Cecilia & Ecco, Chris Hughes, has taken his talents to the East Side and patrons are sure to be satisfied with his new cuisine. Hughes said, “this restaurant will focus on seafood dishes and have a more refined feel” than Dailies and Slide. The space will feature two outdoor patio areas, with one being covered and heated for all weather conditions. This will absolutely be a MUST VISIT restaurant come fall season.
**Fun fact: He is also the owner of the newly developed Dailies & Slides (previously mentioned)
4. Argosy
Nestled away in the East Atlanta Village neighborhood, this Veteran run gastropub has been the perfect place to come for a laid back atmosphere with great food and even better company. With comfortable seats and a gaming section located in the back this East Atlanta restaurant gives customers a chill and “come as you are” vibe. Pizza, wings, hot dogs and other all American fare is the speciality here. If you are looking for some good old fashioned wings and beer, Argosy will not disappoint.
5. Gunshow
This restaurant’s unique dining experience will surely have guests coming back for more. At the Gunshow, customers have their meals presented to them by the chefs and cooks who created the dish. Part of the owners goal was to create a sense of transparency, so the space is designed to allow patrons to see straight back into the kitchen. Now for the good stuff…the food! This is another restaurant where the menu changes from day to day in an effort to provide a unique and individualized experience for its guests. Gunshow does provide their customers with multiple culinary options, from pork, chicken, seafood or vegetarian – there is something here for everyone. So, what are you waiting for?!
