A brand-new sandwich pop-up shop, SamWitch, is bringing Atlanta some seriously quirky and delicious sandwiches. With amazing flavor combinations, you’ll definitely be going back for more! One of the most famous sandwiches at SamWitch even pays tribute to the iconic Atlanta hip-hop group, Outkast!
How? Good question: their Outkast-inspired burger is a alligator and pork meat patty with melted cheese, Old Bay and Thousand Island dressing called Gatorbelts and Patty Melts.
But if that’s not your style, don’t worry! SamWitch has a flavor for everyone to enjoy.
Maybe you’d want to try their Seven Layer Country Captain Crunchwrap Superb: an Indian-Anglo fusion dish with chicken and garlic ginger basmati rice (exchange the chicken for tofu to make it vegetarian)! Or the Frog bologna Croak Madame, made with delicious frog legs. And according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, they’ve also “talked about doing a Low-Country boil version with sausage made with emulsified shrimp.”
More about SamWitch
These cheeky pun names and delightfully unserious vibes make for a wonderful addition to Atlanta’s already incredible food scene.
The creative minds behind SamWitch, Mykel Burkhart, the former chef de cuisine at Miller Union, his wife, Sam, and his colleague Tyler Oliver, recently talked with the AJC. Burkhart said, “It’s one of many concepts that I’ve been wanting to do for a number of years, and it coincided with this space opening up… So we’re just making silly sandwiches in a little box.”
Burkhart also told AJC that he’s having fun with the rotating sides, including deep-fried Alabama crab claws with cacio e pepe and nduja espuma and gochugaru. But in an ever-changing world one thing will remain the same: fries. Burkhart says, “because if we’ve learned anything about customers at breweries, it’s that they really like fried potatoes.” SO true.
