With temperatures in the high 60s, even reaching the mid 70s at times over the past couple weeks, Atlantans might’ve been a little shocked to open the door this morning and find that it’s… cold again.
And the cold weather isn’t moving out until the weekend–the first week of spring in Atlanta has been hit by a cold front!
The details
Tomorrow, March 19th, is the Spring Equinox, meaning it’s the first official day of spring. But instead of a warm sunny day, it’ll be a crisp cool one outside. According to The Weather Channel, the high could get up as high as 59 degrees Fahrenheit, but the low is a brisk 38 degrees.
This means you’ll probably need to bring your sweater with you to stay warm!
More Weather Details
The first day of spring will also be a little windy, which will contribute to the cool feeling of the air. The sun will rise at 7:42 am and set at 7:49 pm, and from there of course, the days will start getting longer as we head towards summer!
Get excited for Spring!
Of course in the ATL we know that cool weather doesn’t last long, and the summers get hot! So enjoy the breezy spring weather before it heats up this summer!
By the end of the weekend and early into next week, we can expect to see highs in the low 70s again and possibly even some rain!
And of course, if you’re looking for things to do this spring, you’ve got to see some of the blooming daffodils, or blossoming tulips, or you can check out the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival!
Even though spring is starting off chilly this year, we know it’s going to be a great season of growing! Happy spring, Atlanta!
