About the Pirates’ House in Savannah

When you think of old history in Georgia, Savannah is probably on the top of your mind. As one of the oldest cities in the U.S., and the official 2nd most haunted city in the U.S., there’s plenty of history to learn about in Savannah.
One of the coolest must-visit spots is The Pirates’ House. And it’s called that for good reason. The Pirates’ House was a hotspot meeting location for sailors, pirates, and other (sometimes less than savory) characters. Known for its brews and brawls, this spot has kept its original building intact over the centuries, even though it was slated for demolition at one point post-World War II.
Here’s what The Pirates’ House states about their history,
Savannah’s Famous Pirates’ House is located on one of the most historic spots in Georgia. It is here that Trustee’s Garden, the first public agricultural experimental garden in America, was located. Around 1753, when Georgia had become firmly established and the need for the experimental garden no longer existed, the site was developed as a residential section. Since Savannah had become a thriving seaport town, one of the first buildings constructed on the former garden site was naturally an inn for visiting sailors.
