Looking to add a little whimsy into your summer, Atlanta? Enter Benedith Lauré, the ATL-based poet, author and writer who’s hoping to bring some more magic to the Atlanta Beltline… and we’re so excited for her!
Lauré is fundraising for a super cool, ambitious new project: The Poetry Parlor. After 7 years of popping up around parks, train stations, and basically anywhere else she could, The Poetry Parlor is ready for a permanent home on the Atlanta Beltline.
Hold up. What is this?
It’s pretty simple, actually. The Poetry Parlor is your one-stop-shop for a personalized, one-of-a-kind poem, written for you right on the spot!
And now, Lauré wants to expand beyond just a pop-up poetry event.
She said in an Instagram post,
Over the past 7 years, we’ve shown that poetry is valuable… Poetry heals hearts, bring people together, and create moments of love, joy, and happiness for all people… Now we have the opportunity to *finally* grow.
This wonderful poetry experience would bring even more beautiful art to the Beltline, and it’s perfect for families, friends, partners and everyone in-between to enjoy! And it’s a great way to support a small, woman-owned, and Black owned business right here in town.
The new Poetry Parlor would also have 2-3 poets on standby, ready to write you your very own poem!
When can I get my poem?
Lauré hopes to get her Poetry Parlor up and running on the Beltline by June 1st (just in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup)!
But she still has some fundraising to do. She’s raised just under $4K for this project, and is aiming for $15K.
How can I help?
Okay… so if you want to see this amazing poetry project come to life, you can donate to help out!
Lauré created a GoFundMe to fundraise building out the space, and setting up all the needed business aspects like permits, licenses, insurance, and any other necessary business expenses.
And follow @thepoetryparlor.atl for all the Beltline updates. Once it’s up and running, go grab your very own poem!
