Calling all lovers of the spooky, wacky, and downright weird! There’s an exciting new reverse parade in town! ‘Where the Weird Things Are: An Upside Down Parade’ is a Halloween celebration that brings together local folklore, giant mythical creatures and their stories, and of course, our amazing community!
Hold up. What even is ‘Where the Weird Things Are: An Upside Down Parade’?
You might’ve heard of Atlanta’s BeltLine Lantern Parade, a dazzling parade of huge puppets, incredible art, and community… this is like that, only flipped on its head!
Created by the same team being the long-running Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade, Chantelle Rytter and the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons, ‘Where the Weird Things Are’ is fun event for the whole family! And attendees can participate, just like in all of their other BeltLine parades–you just have to create your own creature!
What is a ‘Reverse Parade’ exactly?
Not only is ‘Where the Weird Things Are’ an Upside Down experience, it’s also a reverse parade, which means the parade participants are stationary and spectators are invited to walk around them! This will allow attendees to go at their own pace and really take in all the wonderful weird fun of the massive creatures!
What can parade-goers expect?
‘Where the Weird Things Are’ will feature bumpin’ live music, by Atlanta-based marching band the Black Sheep Ensemble and a story time all about the featured creatures, told by festival creator, Rytter herself! And, of course, tons of creepy creatures to spark your imagination and get you in the spooky spirit!
