Heading to a swimming lake or beach is a great alternative to those busy ATL swimming pools. Plus, they’re usually closer to nature or parks which makes it a double win! Luckily, this charming public beach is located on Lake Acworth, only an hours drive away from Atlanta.
The 90 acre lake is just south of, and is connected to, Lake Allatoona, meaning there’s plenty of places to take a dip and enjoy some wild swimming at this summer hotspot.
But it’s Acworth Beach that’s the most beloved area around the lake. Therefore, you can expect it to be busy in the summer. Getting there early is advised. However, there’s plenty of space to explore and for adventure, with lakefront walkways, picnic areas, playgrounds, and more!
The beach is open for swimming from early June until Labor Day, from dawn until dusk. There are no lifeguards present. But, there’s a bathroom, changing station, and showers are all located by the beach.
You can find Acworth Beach on the north shore of Lake Acworth inside of Cauble Park. There is a $10.00 parking fee for non Acworth residents on weekend days and holidays between Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. For more information, click here.
There are plenty of other ways to cool off this summer, like the amazing water parks in and around Atlanta, to all the pools on offer throughout the Metropolitan Atlanta area. Click the link below for a full round-up of summer pools in the ATL.
