Atlanta’s WSB-TV reported yesterday that Ammazza Edgewood, the beloved pizza restaurant, is permanently closing on New Year’s Eve of this year. WSB-TV reported that in a statement, the restaurant said, “Ammazza has been made possible by the efforts of so many people. Hundreds of individuals over the last 12 years sacrificed their time and energy to make Ammazza possible. The gratitude is beyond words. Thank You to everyone for all of your contributions.”
Ammazza has always been the pizza shop of the people. They write on their website, “When creating Ammazza we wanted to combine two things people enjoy the most—pizza + beer—and put them in an open, neighborhood-friendly space that invites people to come and go as they please. With a vast selection of over 30 well thought out beers, we then set out with an ambitious goal—to create the best pizza money could buy.”
They’ve also been a huge supporter of locally sourced food. They say, “We make our own fresh mozzarella daily, source vegetables from regional farms and use meats cured and prepared by The Spotted Trotter in Kirkwood. All this allows us to offer a pizza that is robust in fresh flavors and unique to our very own region.”
We will miss their delicious pizzas and mouthwatering beers so much.
This closure comes on the tail of another Atlanta local favorite, Hodgepodge coffee, also announcing their closing on December 31st for the very same reason. Rent prices.
While there are currently no further details, Ammazza does hope to find another location to reopen their shop in the future.
At the very least, hit up their Edgewood location before they close on December 31st.
