A new radio project has taken over part of the BeltLine, celebrating Atlanta’s diverse music scene
There’s a brand new alternative, multicultural platform that celebrates Atlanta’s diverse and infamous music scene, located on the BeltLine. For a limited time only, the independent, off-the-grid radio station entitled A/V Radio located in Atlanta, GA and broadcasting globally.
Managed and curated by Ree de la Vega and produced by Dash Studio, the station launched on April 1 and will broadcast through June 30, 2022. Part of this year’s Art on the Beltline, A/V Radio is located on the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail at 830 Willoughby Way NE, Atlanta, GA 30312.
Hosted by Atlanta’s top professional DJs, with national and international guests, A/V Radio features a wide variety of music genres including Latin, House, Disco, New Wave (80’s), Goth, Afrobeat, Jersey Club, Techno, Funk, Underground Club and Vogue Ballroom.
Shows air via audio and livestream Friday through Sunday and restream the rest of the week. Audiences can find the schedule and enjoy the music and video through several platforms: on their website, by downloading the FREE app, or in person via speakers on the Atlanta Beltline.
“We’re seeking to leverage a global network to give voice to emerging artists through A/V Radio,” states Ree de la Vega. “And we’re committed to creating an inclusive space for communities and individuals to connect. The amplification of diverse voices is the definition of empowerment and understanding.”
A shipping container, custom designed and fabricated by Arc Design, is the new home of A/V Radio. Converted to a portable DJ booth with state-of-the-art sound and streaming equipment by engineer Michael Boot, audiences will enjoy a quality experience. For in-person visitors, the station’s lit, vibrant electric plum exterior also serves as modern artwork.
