How did WalletHub figure out the best places to retire in the U.S.?
Here’s how WalletHub conducted this study,
To help Americans find the best cities to spend their golden years, WalletHub compared the retirement-friendliness of 182 cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across four key dimensions: 1) Affordability, 2) Activities, 3) Quality of Life and 4) Health Care.
We evaluated those dimensions using 45 relevant metrics… Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for retirement.

Why is Atlanta a good place to retire?
Some of Atlanta’s standout scores are in the amount of activities for retired people to enjoy and our great healthcare for older people. We all know Atlanta has tons of things to do for people of all ages, and we’ve got some of the best hospitals around!
However, Atlanta’s ‘quality of life’ for retirement-age people is a little lower than we’d like to see on the list.
Did any other Georgia cities make the list?
Surprisingly, only three GA cities made the cut for WalletHub’s ‘Best Places to Retire’ list. The other two were Augusta, GA, coming in at 138th and Columbus, GA, coming in at 155th.
So spend your Golden Years enjoying the city, right here in Atlanta!
