Summer’s officially here! But with the current rising temperatures and seasonal bugs (hey Cicadas!), the days can feel suffocating and you may not have the energy to enjoy the outdoors. We put together a list of 10 indoor experiences so you can still check things off that summer bucket list!
1. Explore Ancient Egypt
Ready to venture back in time? With the help of the latest VR technology, you’ll explore the Great Pyramid of Giza in a space spanning more than 10,000 square feet! Squeeze down forbidden corridors to unravel the secrets of the Queen’s Chamber, decipher hieroglyphs and much more. Created in collaboration with a renowned Egyptologist and professor at Harvard, Horizon of Khufu has welcomed over 1 million visitors worldwide — and you don’t want to miss it. Get your tickets here!
2. Learn more about the Titanic
From its glorious creation up to its dramatic descent, the Titanic has been a source of fascination and scrutiny. This summer, you can dive into the impressive cargo at Titanic: An Immersive Voyage, and uncover 300+ artifacts, life-sized reconstructed rooms, 3D views, video animations and so much more. You’ll also get to relive the ship’s final moments as if you were there and discover the Titanic’s wreck site. Secure your spot here!
3. Set up (yet another) brunch with the girls
One thing ATL knows about is brunches. While some spots prioritize outdoors seating, you can still find a nice spot indoors or in the shade at one of Atlanta’s best brunch places. Chicken and waffles, french toast, pancakes, eggs bennedict… we’re salivating just talking about it. And, if you’re looking for a boozy touch, check out 10 of the best bottomless brunches in the city!
4. Take a stroll through the city’s museums
Fernbank National History Museum, the High Museum of Art, Trap Museum… there’s plenty of museums to check out in the ATL. Plus, some of them have seasonal art exhibits going on that are as educational as they are fun. At the High Museum, you’ll find two limited time exhibits, “Dutch Art in A Global Age” and a contemporary photography exhibition called “Truth Told Slant.” And currently on view at the Atlanta History Center, a “Stories of Atlanta” exhibit that shares the stories of individuals who helped shape the city we know today.
5. Grab some ice cream
Now if Museum-going isn’t really your favorite, we’re 100% sure ice cream-going is (if that’s even a thing). Frozen yoghurt, sundaes, sorbets, gelato, pick your fighter because Atlanta’s got loads of frozen treats to go around. Our favorite ice cream places that have indoor seating include Sweet-Stack Creamery, I Scream Ice Cream Rolls and Jake’s Ice Cream to mention just a few; but you can check out our list of delicious ice cream shops for more!
6. Relax at a spa
If you’re anything like us, the spa feels like a mental and physical pause. On top of escaping the heat, you’ll be gifting yourself some sweet quality time with yourself (or your loved ones). If you’re looking to take a much needed break, the city’s got plenty of relaxing spas.
7. Take a dip in the pool
What’s more refreshing than a dip in the pool? Whether in a public or private pool, dipping a toe will always do the trick when it comes to beating the heat. Plus, admission costs as little as 0$, so you’ve got no excuse. Now get that swimsuit on!

Name a better feeling than getting ready for date night on a summer evening. Atlanta’s got some of the most unique and delicious restaurants that are perfect to get to know someone or further develop that exciting bond between two lovers. Amazing decor, tasty food and tangy cocktails… sign us up!
9. Enjoy trivia with your loved ones
Maybe you’re competitive, or maybe you’re just looking for a fun night out with friends. Either way: trivia is happening in the ATL… in more places than you know. Grab yourself some finger food and drinks, and get your game on!

AMC, Plaza Theaters, Regal Atlantic Station, LOOK… there’s no shortage of movie theaters in Atlanta — and they all make for the perfect night out to escape the summer heat. Right now, you’ll find “If,” “Furiosa,” “Priscilla,” and the family-friendly “Inside Out 2” playing in theaters.
