Don’t be a Muppet, check out Atlanta’s Puppetry Museum with the world’s largest collection of Jim Henson artifacts
If you’re a lover of The Muppets or Sesame Street, Atlanta has got a treat for you. Opposite Atlantic Station in midtown Atlanta is the Center for Puppetry Arts. It offers a captivating day for the entire family, with an extensive collection of puppet artifacts.
A visit to this unique museum will have you feeling like a child again. The live performances, workshops and exhibitions available will make you rethink everything you know about puppets and puppeteers.
Opened by Kermit the Frog and Jim Henson in 1978, the museum has come a long way. Now it’s producing 600+ performances a year, offering 50+ types of educational programs, and is home to more than 5000 puppets and artifacts. They also have a digital platform, so you can access their interesting selection of programming in all 50 states and 9 countries.
The museum houses the largest presentation of Jim Henson artifacts in the world. Henson was the genius mind behind hits like The Muppets, Sesame Street, and Labyrinth. A visit here guarantees a meeting with Miss Piggy, Bert, Ernie, and even Kermit the Frog himself.
Beyond his iconic charcaters, you’ll also learn about his life, career and legacy while getting up close and personal with artifacts and his creations.
There is also a global collection, delving into the world of puppetry on an international scale.
