From tasty tacos to magic margaritas, Atlanta has some incredible Mexican eateries!
Where you go for Mexican in Atlanta depends entirely on what you want. Would you like contemporary cooking to impress your date? Or maybe it’s just bar bites and magical margaritas that you’re after. Regardless, Atlanta’s got something for everybody! Here’s a round-up of the greatest Mexican spots in the ATL, no matter what you’re craving.
1. My Taco Cantina
Where: Smyrna
There are so many incredible places to get tacos in Atlanta. One of our favorites is My Taco Cantina, and it doesn’t get more authentic than this Mexican gem. You can never go wrong at My Taco Cantina if it’s tacos you’re after, just make sure you head to their irresistible salsa bar!
2. Birria El Gordo
Where: Fair Oaks
We have reoccurring dreams about Taco Tuesday at Birria El Gordo. Their birria flour quesadillas just hit different, hence the name of the restaurant! Don’t forget to grab a side of consomé, for a pairing that’ll soon pop up in your dreams!
3. Chido & Padre’s
Where: Buckhead
For elevated Mexican food and an unforgettable menu, head to Chido & Padre’s in Buckhead! Enjoy one of their cocktail on their awesome patio. We’re obsessed with Agua Fuerte, a cucumber vodka cocktail with jugo de pepino, matcha, aloe, melon, and basil foam.

4. Patrina Cocina
Where: Grant Park
This family business brings the heart of Mexico right to Atlanta, with its authentic and unique experience. The cocktails alone are show-stoppers, with smoke and sensational presentation. But the real star of the show is their menu. We always get the grilled pulpo, with some tasty tacos on the side.
4. Guac Y Margys
Where: On the Beltline & in Midtown
If it’s margaritas you’re after, then Guac Y Margys is you’re spot. Known for the extra large (and extra strong) margaritas, you’re definitely going to need a designated driver. Now with two locations, it’s evident that this is one of the many incredible (and beloved) LGBTQIA+ businesses in the ATL.

5. El Rey Del Tacos
Where: Doraville
We’re not the only ones who think El Rey Del Taco are special. Atlanta is buzzing for their extensive menu and tasty tacos. We suggest getting the mini-tacos so you can enjoy as many varieties as possible!
6. Nuevo Laredo Cantina
Where: Hills Park
You can always count on Nuevo Laredo Cantina to serve up a delicious homestyle Mexican meal. The salsa at this place is always so fresh, you’re going to want to take some home. We highly recommend getting the fajitas!
7. Los Hermanos
Where: Tucker
This beloved local chain just had to make the list. It’s an ATL right of passage at this point. Known for Mexican & Tex-Mex standards, there’s burritos, tacos, nachos, and so much more at Los Hermanos.
