Set to originally come to Atlanta September 17- September 18, One Music Midtown, hosted by Live Nation has just been cancelled! The festival released the following statement in regards to its reasons for cancelling “due to circumstances beyond our control Music Midtown will not be taking place this year”. Obviously fans who had already purchased tickets can expect a refund, “refunds will be processed automatically within the next 24 hours to the original method of payment”.
There is speculation surrounding the reason for the cancellation being the gun law changes. The law states that it will be illegal to keep guns out of the event. The newly passed laws like the “Safe Carry Protection Act” allows residents to carry guns in establishments such as, bars, churches, and schools which would leave law enforcement little foothold to keep licensed carriers out of the festival. The AJC stated “News of the possibility that Music Midtown could be canceled was reported first by George Chidi, an independent Atlanta journalist, on Friday.”
Don’t worry! Atlanta is still a hotspot for festivals/tours and below are a list that are still coming to the city:
- Giveon : Give or Take Tour August 30
- Kehlani: Blue Water Road Trip Aug 3 – 4
- Teyana Taylor Aug 17
- One Music Fest October 8-October 9
