Saturday, May 18th is National Astronomy Day, and Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville is celebrating with a Star Party! Fun for astronomers of all ages, this star party will include solar viewing from the iconic Observatory, a lunar viewing, and a guided ‘star walk’ on the museum grounds!
What activities should guests expect?
Star Party starts at 5:30pm, with a solar viewing in the Observatory, until 7:30pm. After the sun sets, the lunar viewing will begin, and last from about 7:30pm to 11pm. Stargazers will be able to view the moon, the Gamma Leo constellation and the Hercules Globular Cluster from the museum’s state-of-the-art telescope.
‘Star walks’ will take place on the museum grounds throughout the night, beginning at 9:30pm, 10pm, and 10:15pm. On the star walk, stargazers will be guided through the constellations and other celestial wonders!
But that’s not all! Young visitors can also enjoy fun activities inside the museum! Build your own Mission Medallion, design your own spacecraft, and participate in a fun NASA giveaway… and so much more!
