There’s nothing quite like enjoying the warming weather than wandering around a cute downtown street with a hot dog in your hand! And this isn’t a new tradition: Nu-Way Weiners has been around the block, and they’re still a local favorite! Keep scrolling to learn all about Nu-Way’s legendary dogs… and how you can get your paws on one.
What is Nu-Way Weiners?
Nu-Way Weiners is a classic hot dog stand-turned-diner in downtown Macon, Georgia. This classic and iconic hot dog spot actually opened the same year as Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island, NY, and it’s made just as much of a splash in the local hot dog scene.
According to Southern Living,
The concept of a diner-style restaurant with a sausage specialty was quite a novelty at the time, and folks lined up to score one of the coveted 11 stools that lined the counter or a seat at one of the seven booths along the wall.
And now, the diner is just as popular and beloved as when it opened. In fact, Nu-Way has hosted some pretty famous celebrity fans, including the one and only Oprah! People even cater their weddings with Nu-Way.
What’s on the menu at Nu-Way Weiners?
Nu-Way Weiners knows that it’s about more than just what is on the menu. It’s how they make it too. Nu-Way cooks don’t boil or roll their dogs, like tons of other spots in the U.S. They grill them on a flat top for that real authentic taste.
Here are some of the menu options (along with their crazy cheap prices!)
- Hot Dog “All the Way” for $2.89
- Slaw Dog with their homemade cole slow for $2.89
- Chili – Cheese Slaw Dog “All the Way” for $3.89
- Classic Patty Melt for $7.39
- Chocolate Malt for $2.69
